The newest rest house Katagamuwa Rest located in the South East of Sri Lanka is only 280km from the business capital of Colombo and five minutes drive to sacred city of Kataragama. Kataragama is a gateway to explore the rich cultural heritage of the ancient Ruhunu Kingdom dating back to 2nd century B.C. "Pada Yathra" (Great walk) performed annually in July and August by devotes to Kataragama is a powerful symbol and reconciliation which strengthens the links between the people of the north and the south.

Katagamuwa Rest is located in few kilometers away from Katagamuwa Entrance to the Yala National park, you can enjoy one of the best sites for the leopards watching. Spread over 126,786 hectares, Yala National park, also known as Ruhunu National park, is second only to Wilpattu National park, the largest wildlife reservation in Sri Lanka. Situated in the south-eastern low-land dry zone of Sri Lanka, Yala National park is a combination of dry-mixed evergreen forests, bush land, open greenery, water holes, briny water lagoons and seaside forest areas.
